SAUCE
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground beef
1 (32 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
1 ½ c water
CHEESE FILLING
16 oz cottage cheese (or Ricotta)
3 cups mozarella cheese, shredded
½ c grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
Chopped fresh parsley (optional, but highly recommended)
NOODLES
1 (8 oz) package uncooked lasagna noodles – 9 noodles
DIRECTIONS:
Brown beef in a large skillet. Drain well.
Add sauce & water to meat mixture. Simmer 10 minutes.
Combine cheeses, eggs, & parsley in a bowl; set aside.
Layer as follows into a 9x13 casserole:
- ¼ of meat-tomato sauce
- 3 noodles
- ¼ of meat-tomato sauce
- ½ of cheese filling
- 3 noodles
- ¼ of meat-tomato sauce
- remaining cheese filling
- 3 noodles
- remaining sauce
Remove foil and bake 10 minutes longer.
Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
Use veggies instead of beef for a vegetarian version.
